Robert J Vittengl, 78, passed away in St. Peters Hospice in Albany NY on the evening of July 21, 2010.
Born, February 22, 1932, in Bridgeport CT , the son of Morgan and Mary Vittengl, he grew up in a family with five siblings. Along with his brothers and sisters, he was taught the values and beliefs of the Catholic faith.
After meeting his future wife in Lake Placid , NY they were married on September 2, 1952 at St Agnes Catholic Church. A true family man, he and Helen Wilkins raised nine wonderful children together. True to his values, he taught each of them the importance of a strong work ethic, a passion for living, and the commitment to and love of family.
Robert was valedictorian of his class and an ever-inspired entrepreneur. He was self motivated and driven, owning and operating multiple automobile franchises. An avid aviation enthusiast, he piloted several single engine airplanes and helicopters. Robert co-founded the Glens Falls Pilots and Owners Association. Ever the craftsman and hobbyist, he refurbished his own airplane; a J3 piper cub.
He is pre-deceased by his parents, Morgan and Mary Vittengl, and his brother Fr. Morgan Vittengl.

His nine children and their spouses; Robert and Stephanie Vittengl; Mary and Mac MacDonald; Mike and Kathy Vittengl; Dr. Morgan and Mary Vittengl; Ann and Jonathan Perham; Don and Heidi Vittengl; Joe and Holly Vittengl; Helen and Brian Stoick; Joni and Paul Gallegos.
His twenty-eight grandchildren; Jason and Julie; Eric and Jessica; Matthew and Shannon; Tatum, Samantha; Morgan, Katie, and Kelly Vittengl; Jessica and Mike Budris; Joe Hanley; Zachary and Alexandra Mack; Kaleah, Celinna Perham; Alex, Olivia, Isabelle Stoick; Morgan, Hannah, Maria, Luke Vittengl; Kjellen, Sophia, Kai Gallegos.
His four great-grandchildren; Sarah Vittengl; John and Mae Budris; Paxton Vittengl.
A Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 24, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.at St. Michael's The Archangel Church, So. Glens Falls. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, So. Glens Falls.
Friends may call Friday, July 23, 2010 from 4 -7 p.m. at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, 94 Saratoga Ave., So. Glens Falls.
