Daniel Joseph Havens, 63, of Mankato, MN and formerly of Glens Falls, NY passed away on Thursday, March 11, 2010 after a long illness.
Born June 20, 1946 in Glens Falls, he was the son of Mary (Rozell) Havens of Queensbury and the late Robert E. Havens, who passed away the same day as Daniel only a few hours later.
Dan was a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Class of 1964 and then went on to graduate from Providence College, Providence, Rhode Island in 1968.
On May 31, 1969, he married the love of his life and best friend Sandra Lazarus. They enjoyed 40 years of loving marriage and had two wonderful children.
Dan worked at Ellsworth Ice Cream in Saratoga Springs, NY for many years as Distribution Manager. In 2001, he went to work for H.J. Heinz Inc. in Muscatine, IA and most recently Le Center, MN as the Logistics Manager.
In 2002, Dan was honored when he received the Heinz Hero Award.
Dan loved being with his family, gardening, mentoring others during his entire life and was an avid music lover.
Dan was predeceased by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Herman and Frances Lazarus.
Survivors besides his wife, Sandra and his mother, Mary include his two sons, Scott Havens and his partner, Andy, of Kalamazoo, MI, and Christopher Havens and his wife Tonya, of Troy, NY. Also surviving him is his sister, Barbara Jones and her husband Richard of Queensbury, his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Steven and Carol Lazarus and sister-in-law, Joan Lazarus, 6 nieces and nephews, a great niece and 2 great nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated 11:00 am on Saturday, March 20, 2010 at St. Mary's Church, Warren Street, Glens Falls.
Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, South Glens Falls.
Friends may call from 9:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury. There will be a time for sharing memories at the funeral home at 9:30 am.
