Charles H. Bridenbaker, 82, of Assembly Point, passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2010, at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born on October 5, 1927 in Buffalo, NY, he was the son of Arthur & Helen (McCluskey) Bridenbaker.
Charlie attended Cornell University until his studies were interrupted while he served in the US Navy during WWII. He returned to school after the war and graduated from the University of Buffalo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Upon finishing college, he went to work for General Electric Corporation in 1951. He met and married his sweet heart, Charlotte on April 5, 1952. He retired in 1988 from Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory as a senior design engineer for the Naval Nuclear program. After retirement, he and Charlotte traveled and enjoyed life together until her passing.
He loved his family and enjoyed boating on Lake George. He was also an accomplished wood worker as he completely refurbished his home on Lake George. He was a private pilot, and enjoyed flying all over the north country in his plane. He also enjoyed many outdoor activities such as golfing, skiing and swimming. He was a member of the GE Elfun Society and Christ Church United Methodist of Glens Falls. He belonged to the YMCA water workout program and the Wellness Center at Glens Falls Hospital.
Besides his parents and Aunt, Henrietta Milks, he was predeceased by his wife, Charlotte in 1997; two sister-in-laws and two brother-in-laws.
Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Ann Humphrey and her husband Brent M. of Queensbury and Cathy L. Hodgkins and her husband John L.; a grandson Sam L. Hodgkins of Lake George; three sister-in-laws, Grace Ives of Fuquay-Varina, NC, Bernice Warner of Binghamton, NY and Maybelle Oakley of New Milford, PA; several nieces and nephews; his buddy Barbara Bills and many good friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 17, at Regan & Denny Funeral Home, Quaker Road, Queensbury with Dr. J. Ted Brothers officiating.
Burial will follow at Pine View Cemetery, Queensbury.
Calling hours are scheduled from 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may take the form of contributions to ones favorite charity.
