Biography
Virginia DeLorenzo, 92 of Schenectady, passed away Friday, March 5, 2010 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady.
Born in Oneonta, NY on October 14, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Dominick and Annunziatti Bozzi Gemmi. She was a communicant of St. Paul the Apostle Church in Schenectady.
Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.
Besides her parents Virginia was predeceased by her husband Carmine J. DeLorenzo who passed away in 1998; her beloved son, Paul DeLorenzo; and several siblings.
Survivors include her son David (Rita) DeLorenzo of Rotterdam; 2 sisters-in-law, Dorothy Capra of Schenectady and Lucille DeLorenzo of Cotuit, MA; 4 grandchildren, Matthew Ferrucci, Emily (Jon Rice) DeLorenzo, Katherine (Craig Rossein) DeLorenzo, and Sarah Hazel; 5 great grandchildren Matthew, Chloe, Gwen, Eva, and Eli; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 10am at the Griswold Funeral Home, 1867 State St. Schenectady followed by a Mass of Christian Burial to be Celebrated at 11am at St. John the Evangelist Church 806 Union St. Schenectady. Burial will take place in St. Josephs cemetery Schenectady. Callings hours will be held on Tuesday from 8 until 10am prior to the service at the funeral home. The
Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to St. Paul the Apostle Church, 277 Albany St. Schenectady NY 12304. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Arlene Patierno, her niece and guardian angel, for her loving care and devotion to Virginia. The family would also like to thank Lori Martin, her caregiver and friend.
