Biography

Queensbury:

Casey L. Gamblin, 27, embarked on a new adventure at dawn on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a long courageous battle with cancer. On that morning Casey released her body, picked up her wings and flew toward the heavens.
Born March 26, 1982 in Riverhead, NY, she was the daughter of Robert E. Gamblin and Marianne (Grabowski) Gamblin.

Casey loved the outdoors and frequently went camping, hiking, boating, swimming, fishing and on road trips to nowhere. She loved to shoot hoops and celebrated whenever she beat her brother. Music was a passion and she played guitar, drums and keyboard and often sang off-key. A big kid at heart, Casey loved Loonie Tunes, SpongeBob SquarePants and Family Guy as well as playing board games and cards. She was also an active Girl Scout.

In 2005 Casey graduated from Mineral Area College in Missouri with a Degree in Business Management. She briefly thought of a modeling career, but after interning at an agency decided that world was not for her. Being an outgoing person she flourished in customer service at Sprint.

Casey's courage and strength never let her illness get her down, and even as she was losing her sight she went bowling, learned how to snowshoe and bravely rode on her mother's motorcycle.

Smiles, laughter and pranks came easily to Casey and listening to her tell stories was always a treat. Her heart and soul were as beautiful as she was. She spread love and joy wherever she went and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for family and friends. Casey was an incredible young woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Casey was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Ed Grabowski, paternal grandfather, Cecil Gamblin and aunt, Linda O'Niel.

Survivors include her mother, Marianne Gamblin of Queensbury, her father Robert Gamblin and his wife Shellie of Bonne Terre, MO, brother Robert E. Gamblin Jr. of Bonne Terre, MO, step-sister, Molly Bennett of Bonne Terre, MO, step-brother, Gary Bennett of Bonne Terre, MO, her maternal grandmother Loretta Grabowski of Glens Falls, Paternal grandmother, Harriet Gamblin of Bonne Terre, MO and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 6, 2010 at the Regan and Denny Funeral Home, 53 Quaker Road, Queensbury and the family invites you to join them in honoring Casey by wearing something purple.
Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Casey and I haven't seen eachother in about 3 years, so I was shocked to find out that she had pasted away. Casey was a wonderful friend and would literally give the shirt off of her back to anyone who needed it. Casey was such a loving person. I want to send my condolences to the Casey's family. I know this must be very hard for them. It is for me and I haven't seen her in a long time. I regret not trying harder to keep in touch with her. We drifted apart after I got married. Even though we did drift apart I have always wondered what she was doing and how she was. I will forever keep Casey in my thoughts and prayers. She was a great friend.

I met Casey and her brother the summer Marianne and I got our motorcycles. Casey was so beautiful and funny with her brother. She was meeting her NY friends from school out that evening. Last winter Casey adn her mom stopped by to get snowshoes so they could try some snowshoeing. She was so optimistic, independent and up for the challenge. Her spirit was shining. A free spirit like her mom. I so admired her courage. my sincerest condolences to Marianne and her family.

Casey blessed me with her presence early on in my life. She lived across the street from my family in Queensbury, NY. When I think about Casey, and my experiences with her, two things come to mind. The first is that she taught me that handstands were best practiced while my parents weren't home. Looking back now, it is very clear how much of a big kid Casey really was. The second is her willingness to invite me to the "big kid's table." I can remember that at that point in my life, all I wanted to do was hang around the big kids. She could see that and tried to help. I remember she took me over to the high school several times after school to hang out with some of her friends. It made me feel important. It meant more to me than I could ever express as a nine year old. Even today, 13 years later, I think about Casey often. Just the other day I was telling a close friend about the greatest babysitter I ever had. My thought and prayers go out to her friends and family. I am confident that she is in a far better place. Thanks casey, you were the best.

Casey if I had one wish my wish would be that you were still here with us.I hope you knew that I loved you even though I didn't show it all the time.I remember halloween several years ago we saw a man dressed like Micheal Meyers and he came out from the porch and kept following us and you got scared and ran all the way back to the house and I laughed because you were so funny. That is one of the many memories I will keep with me forever. Most of all I hope you find peace and watch over us from above and know that all your friends and family love and miss you and will be patiently waiting till the day we meet again...xoxoxoxoxo....

Aloha. My prayers and support go out to you. Perhaps Casey and Eddie have been playing a few rounds of golf on God's green acre? Preparing the way back? You know what you know, so don't let the mind linger too long in dark places! Love & hugs to you from Boston.
