Biography
Queensbury:
Casey L. Gamblin, 27, embarked on a new adventure at dawn on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Glens Falls Hospital surrounded by her loving family following a long courageous battle with cancer. On that morning Casey released her body, picked up her wings and flew toward the heavens.
Born March 26, 1982 in Riverhead, NY, she was the daughter of Robert E. Gamblin and Marianne (Grabowski) Gamblin.
Casey loved the outdoors and frequently went camping, hiking, boating, swimming, fishing and on road trips to nowhere. She loved to shoot hoops and celebrated whenever she beat her brother. Music was a passion and she played guitar, drums and keyboard and often sang off-key. A big kid at heart, Casey loved Loonie Tunes, SpongeBob SquarePants and Family Guy as well as playing board games and cards. She was also an active Girl Scout.
In 2005 Casey graduated from Mineral Area College in Missouri with a Degree in Business Management. She briefly thought of a modeling career, but after interning at an agency decided that world was not for her. Being an outgoing person she flourished in customer service at Sprint.
Casey's courage and strength never let her illness get her down, and even as she was losing her sight she went bowling, learned how to snowshoe and bravely rode on her mother's motorcycle.
Smiles, laughter and pranks came easily to Casey and listening to her tell stories was always a treat. Her heart and soul were as beautiful as she was. She spread love and joy wherever she went and there wasn't anything she wouldn't do for family and friends. Casey was an incredible young woman who was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Casey was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Ed Grabowski, paternal grandfather, Cecil Gamblin and aunt, Linda O'Niel.
Survivors include her mother, Marianne Gamblin of Queensbury, her father Robert Gamblin and his wife Shellie of Bonne Terre, MO, brother Robert E. Gamblin Jr. of Bonne Terre, MO, step-sister, Molly Bennett of Bonne Terre, MO, step-brother, Gary Bennett of Bonne Terre, MO, her maternal grandmother Loretta Grabowski of Glens Falls, Paternal grandmother, Harriet Gamblin of Bonne Terre, MO and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
