Douglas Lloyd Williams
Doug Williams died on February 27, 2010 at St. Johns Hospital in Far Rockaway, NY after a short illness.
Doug was the son of the late Harold (Dick Pool) and Dorothy (Mead) Williams.
He was born in Granville NY on March 6, 1951 and resided there most of his life.
Doug was a correction officer with New York State for 29 years retiring from Great Meadow Correction Facility as a Lieutenant. He had a great camaraderie with his co-workers and was dedicated to his job.
Doug was very proud of his Welsh Heritage and his large family. He has the same Creed as his parents "Always room for one more", and because of this his family had a tendency to grow larger quite often.
He served proudly with the United States Army as a Paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, radio operator.
Doug was a loving son, brother, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed his family immensely.
He is survived by his children Douglas L. Williams II and his girlfriend Mary Labas, his grandson Dylan Donahoe, his granddaughter Kathrine Rose Williams, his first wife Patty Daley Wimley and her daughter Jennifer Gould Louden, all of the Danby Vt, Dale Williams and his wife Tera and granddaughter Payton Mae, soon to be born granddaughter Ellie Reese all of Salem NY, Sean Williams and his girlfriend Shawna Loveland and granddaughter Haedyn of Middle Granville NY, his loving daughter Sarah Williams and her boyfriend Brain Brayton also of Middle Granville NY, his children's mother Bonnie Landon Williams of Hudson Falls, his sister Darcy A. Williams and family of Deltona Florida, brothers, Dick and Elaine Williams and family of Hudson Falls, David and Evelyn Williams and family of Comstock NY, Dana Williams and his former wife Shawn family, Doyle Williams and family all of Granville, Damon "Scott" Williams and his partner Duane Henning of Fort Edward, Darryl and Darcy R. Williams and family of Deltona Florida, and his Auntie Jane Wright of Granville.
In accordance with Doug's wishes there will be no calling hours.
A memorial Service will be held at Peniel Presbyterian Church, Quaker Street, Granville on March 6, 2010 at 1PM, with Reverend Jerry McKinney officiating. A gathering will be held after the memorial at the Engine Hose Firehouse next to the church immediately after the service. All are welcome to join in the celebration of his life.
In lieu of flowers bring a dish to pass and a memory to share.
Doug was cremated and will be buried with his beloved parents in the Mettowee Cemetery, Williams Family plot in Granville NY at a later date.
