Biography
Scotia- Adelburt "Dell" Oathout Jr., passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at home. Born in Gloversville, the son of the late Adelbert and Dorothea Oathout. Adelburt was the oldest of 9 children and over the years became a loving father, a mentor to many, a big brother and was always there to help anyone with anything. He was an avid bowler belonging to 2 local leagues, and who also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He also worked for 38 years as a heavy equipment operator for the village of Scotia.
Adelburt is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sue Gardner; his loving children David (Kathleen) Oathout, and Doreen Oathout of Scotia; siblings, Richard Oathout of VT; Patricia Wall of FL, Eileen Baker of Scotia, Maureen Young of Amsterdam, and Carol Beaulac of Johnsenville, NY; grandchildren, Eric J, Kyle D, and Jordan E. Oathout; great grandchildren, Taylor R and Jacob D. Oathout. He is predeceased by his son, Eric E. Oathout; brother, Clifford and sister, Dorothy Jean.
A funeral service will be held Monday, 11am, February 8, 2010 at The White Funeral Home, 264 North Ballston Ave. (Rt. 50) Scotia. Relatives and friends are also invited to call Sunday evening from 2 to 4pm at the funeral home. Interment to be held in Park Cemetery, Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Schenectady, 1411 Union St, Schenectady, NY, 12308, American Cancer Society, 260 Osborne Road, Loudonville, NY 12211 or a charity of ones choice.
